FREE album launch plus Isambarde Electric

27th of June 2008, Whitefriars Olde Ale House, Gosford Street, Coventry, CV1 5DL. 8.30pm kick off!

We will be officially launching our new album ‘Living History’ on an unsuspecting public at Whitefriars Olde Ale House in Coventry on 27th June. Whitefriars is that rarest of beasts – a city centre pub that serves fantastic real ale and feels like a pleasant country hostelry. It’s long been one of our favourite watering holes and session venues, so we’re really looking forward to doing a proper gig there.

As well as the usual line-up we’ll also be joined by Rupert de Jonghe on bass and Duncan Arrow on drums, both of whom played on the new album. This is a bit of a departure for us as previously we’ve been avowedly acoustic, but we felt that certain tracks from the new album would really benefit from a bit of extra drive. Initial rehearsals have taken place and we’re really excited about the prospect of fleshing out the sound and re-jigging some of the songs we’ve been doing for the last few years as well the new ones. Who knows – if it works, maybe Isambarde Electric will become a thing of permanence at some of our larger gigs!

Admission to the gig is FREE, but seating is limited so arrive in plenty of time if you’re planning to sit down! There’s a public car park round the back of the pub which costs a nominal 50p for the whole evening. Hope to see you there!

Hurrah for the lovely new website!

Ta daah! May we have the honour of unveliing our shiny new website. Those of you who have followed us over the years will know that our designer likes to give us a makeover every time we make a new album (or indeed every time he gets bored with the last one).

As ever, we remain indebted to Sugary Tea (aka Mark Plastow) for his sweat and toil in cyberspace. We’d also like to thank our photographer James Harris for all the nice new pics of us up on the site. Enjoy!

Isambarde are proud to present two sample rough masters from our forthcoming album Living History. Call in at IsamSpace: and you’ll find them there…

The first track is Mary and the Soldier/The Durham Rangers. All parts are played by members of the band apart from drums. We couldn’t afford to hire the entire Edinburgh Tattoo for the recording so we got in our mate Duncan Arrow whose kit noise is comparable…

The second track is Just As The Tide Was Flowing. Rupert Dejonghe is on double bass and long hair.

We would also like to thank Dawn Ward (trumpet and flugel) and Dave Morgan (trombone) for putting down brass tracks at painfully short notice.

Watch this space for a release date…
That’s all for now.
